An Agro-Park is the hub of value addition and combines production, processing, collection, R&D, trade and social functions. It delivers its products throughout the year as independent as possible from season and land. Indian economy is agrarian with about 70 per cent of the people dependant on some form of economic activity connected with agriculture. The integrated agro-food park is an important model that envisages multiplier benefits to the entire food value chain, with the maximum benefits flowing to the farmers (in terms of better price realisation) and end consumer (in terms of better quality food products).
We understand that increasing the economic value added in agriculture is significantly predicated on the agri-infrastructure provided at each stage of the food and agri value chain. The agro-park will integrate hi-tech agriculture concept with value addition and post harvest technologies at large to set-up a model for technology demonstration and benefit the farmers and agricultural community.
